When we were children is the title of this moving sentimental journey hand in hand with one of the most recognized and beloved performers on the national scene. Pepón Nieto will guide us, together with baritone Luis Santana, through the texts, poems, and prose of Mario Benedetti with which he fully identifies. Love, justice, and freedom will take us by the hand in this beautiful show filled with music, humor, and lyricism.

PEPÓN NIETO - Performer

Born in Marbella (Málaga). With nearly three decades of experience, he is a highly recognized actor in our country.

He has taken to the stage of Spain’s best theaters in productions such as *Martes de Carnaval* (Mario Gas), *El jurado* (Andrés Lima), *¡Ay Carmela!* (José Carlos Plaza), *El eunuco* and *La comedia de las mentiras*—which holds the record for the highest attendance in the history of the Mérida Classical Theater Festival, with all tickets sold out for both performances—and many more, having completed the tour of *La comedia de los errores* (Andrés Lima) in January 2025. He also has his own theater production company.

In film, he has worked in more than twenty movies under the direction of renowned filmmakers such as Álex de la Iglesia, Imanol Uribe, Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón, José Luis García Sánchez, Manuel Iborra, Félix Sabroso, Dunia Ayaso, and Nacho García Velilla, among many others.

On television, he has appeared in series such as *30 Coins* by Álex de la Iglesia (HBO), *Veneno* (Atresmedia), *I Know Who You Are* by Pau Freixas (Telecinco), and *Los hombres de Paco* (Antena 3), among many other notable works like *Periodistas* (Telecinco), *La vida de Rita* (La 1 de TVE), and *Amar es para siempre* (Antena 3). His most recent and notable titles include *Smiley* (Netflix), *Los enviados* (SkyShowtime), and *Superstar* (Netflix, pending release).

Pepón Nieto has been honored with the Professional Career Award by the Association of Audiovisual Festivals of Andalusia, as well as multiple Málaga Cinema Silver Biznaga awards for Best Actor at the Málaga Film Festival, the Max Award for Best Actor, the Ercilla Theater Award, the Union of Actors Award for Best Supporting Actor in Television, and the Best Actor Award at the Toulouse Festival (France), along with several other accolades recognizing his career, such as the Career Award at the San Javier International Festival of Theater, Music, and Dance and the Honorary Seat at the Teatro Chapí in Villena.

LUIS SANTANA - Baritone

This Zamoran baritone began his musical studies at the age of five, studying with some of the greatest teachers such as Juana Peñalver, Consuelo Barrio, María Teresa Manzano, Miguel Zanetti, and currently with the eminent Spanish tenor Pedro Lavirgen and with Teresa Berganza.

He has performed in the most important theaters and concert halls in our country: Gran Teatro del Liceo, Auditorio Nacional de Música, Fundación Juan March, Auditorio de Zaragoza, Maestranza de Sevilla, Principal de Alicante, Cervantes de Málaga, Miguel Delibes and Teatro Calderón de Valladolid, Romea de Murcia, Auditorio de León, Fundación Príncipe de Asturias, Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, La Coruña, Gran Teatro de Córdoba, Gran Teatro de Huelva, Falla de Cádiz, Batel de Cartagena, Principal de Vitoria, Victoria Eugenia de San Sebastián, Palacio de Congresos de Granada, Mérida, Circo de Albacete, Auditorio de Cuenca, San Lorenzo del Escorial, Maestro Padilla de Almería, etc...
